The Outsiders Socratic Seminar
During the Seminar, Lacey said that the conflict between rich and poor wasn't really an optional thing, but it just sort of happened. In a sense, it's a war story, as much as The Red Badge of Courage is a war story. There are good and bad on both sides, and people kill and die indiscriminately. Death has no favorites. I felt I did well in clarifying text, and my connections need a little bit of work. They just felt clumsy, and off. They weren't really beautiful. In my opinion, the most beautiful line is "Two-bit let out a long, quivering sigh. "No, but I'm wishing that's all that was bothering me."" It really just sums up the book's conclusion, and topics. It connects to that they all have problems, and that those problems aren't all that simple.
