Tenth Grade Reflections
I have grown as an Osprey in that I have become more willing to advocate for myself, and I have started to look at my future, instead of just ignoring my present.
This new-found willingness to advocate for myself has led me to have more challenging, and therefore more useful, schoolwork. It has also helped me explain situations to my teachers that would have typically just slipped under the radar. This has helped my grades significantly. However, good grades are not the only perk of this advocacy. Being able to stand up for myself, and for what I believe to be correct, has led to me being able to express my views in new venues, and has made me more comfortable with seriously addressing large groups of people. That’s a good skill to have.
Looking at my future has been interesting, and frankly, rather terrifying. That’s why I tried to avoid it. There’s something about seeing this big blank thing, with all these different options, and this feeling of “Which one is the right one for me? Should I do it?” tends to overwhelm me. As such, having all these great people here at and involved with Animas to help me once I decided to actually look ahead made it more bearable.
