Los Cuentos Infantiles
This was a fun project. The assignment was to create a short children's book in Spanish, and then read it to some local 1st-graders at a nearby elementary school. The book had to be at least ten pages, with three sentences per page. I had to prove myself capable of reading it aloud in good Spanish. You can see the results of my effort and practice below, as well as pictures of the book's contents. I suppose, strictly speaking, that it is an e-book.
I really enjoyed this project. I liked the opportunity to interact with younger kids, as it is something that I feel is good practice, especially at Animas where we're learning how to comport ourselves. It is important, as we work with all of these public speaking events and fancy exhibitions, that we remember how to interact with children. I learned a good deal about Colombia, and felt a connection to my country. The one alteration I would make to this project is to make it a grander scale of thing. Instead of visiting one class in one school, seeing many classes in many schools, and reading to them. I think that that is a project more worthy of Animas High School.
